Day 0 has arrived!

My apologies for the lack of posts. These past few days have tough as far as anxiety goes. I've had to take a medication called Ativan to help me with this. http://www.drugs.com/ativan.html It has helped a bit. We'll see if the anxiety dwindles today with the prospect of the new marrow cells. They will actually be collecting them today and shipping them as well. They will get here late tonight and the transfusion of them will be done around 10,11,12? p.m.? something like that. Pretty wild stuff coming from an international donor.

The past few days have also been time of rest when possible. Although I have seen a lot of physical therapists for my left-arm and just general strength and leg exercises.

love all of you and hope you are doing well. I'm sure Harold has pulled all of his hair out by this point with the ducks doing so well right now. I wish I could be there for this!

love
Charles

  1. Charles, if I am pulling my hair out, it is only to look like you. Man, that is a good look on you. I am thinking you should sport it from now on. Not only that, I hear that chicks dig scars. It makes you look like more of a "roughneck" (Not to be confused with the Roughnecks in the movies Armageddon, or Starship Troopers.) Actually, I am growing my hair out, and as you can imagine, I am starting to look like Antonio Banderas.

I told your dad that transplant or not, we need you here at the warehouse. It is a tad bit insane. We are going to have Jerry build you a germ-resistant suit so that you can at least stand around and help guide where things go. Heck, you can be the new Bubble Boy. I cant tell you how much we have appreciated reading this blog, and being "kept in the loop"! We miss you so much, and cannot wait to see you in a few months. We are starting to tell stories to the new folk about this guy Charles that used to work here. Stories of your exploits have taken the place of Scott, Peter, and Peg. Love ya, Bud!

  2. Harold really does look like Antonio Banderas now, but more rugged.

All us main store folks are thinking about you, too! Be good.

  3. Okay, so I'm going to show off my brain geekiness. If you're interested, Ativan effects a neurotransmitter called GABA. It's probably the most pervasive neurotransmitter in the brain, it's like a giant nob that just turns the volume down on everything. It's the same (or one of the same) transmitters that alcohol effects, that's why alcohol has such a depressant effect and can kill you, if you turn the volume down too much, your brain stops doing important things (like breathing and pumping your heart). It just slows everything down, and "calms you nerves".....literally. Okay, done being a geek. I hope your doing well, I love this blog BTW, it's good to here from you guys! ~good vibes~ your almost there!

  8. Wow Billie, thanks for the further knowledge! I also take a medication called Neurontin, which is generic for Gabapentin.

  9. Wow Anne, yeah, my mom said she talked to your mom the other day and it's amazing to hear from you, I haven't heard from you in a long time! I'm glad to hear things are going well and you're happily married! I am at OHSU but trying to keep the visitors light right now because I've got a lot of recovering to do. Hopefully somewhere down the road I can have more people stop in and say hi. Are you living in Portland? Whereabouts? I will probably be in Portland even after the transplant is completed.

  10. Harold, I'm going to need a lot of pictures to be able to accept this Antonio Banderas line of grooming. I can't believe David when he says you actually do look like him. You'll always be Woody Harrelson to me.
